STIHL AK 30 S battery: maximum working time from the AK System
The STIHL AK 30 S is a 36V, 5.0Ah lithium-ion battery developed for STIHL’s domestic cordless garden machinery. With 180Wh of available energy, it is the highest-capacity battery in the current STIHL AK System.
It is the best AK battery for customers who prioritise longer working times, fewer charging stops and full performance from more demanding AK System tools.
The AK 30 S can be moved between compatible lawn mowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, grass trimmers, leaf blowers, pole pruners, KombiMotors, pressure washers and other machines in the AK range. One battery can therefore power several different tools around the garden.

The AL 101 is a cost-effective standard charger and is suitable when you usually charge the battery between jobs or overnight.
The AL 301 includes active battery cooling and reduces a complete AK 30 S charge to approximately one hour. It is the most practical upgrade for regular domestic users who want to minimise downtime.
The AL 501 also charges the AK 30 S to approximately 100% in 60 minutes. Its higher charging current provides greater benefits when it is also being used with compatible higher-capacity STIHL AP System batteries.

All three AK batteries have the same fitting and can be used across the STIHL AK System. Their main differences are weight, capacity and available working time.

Designed for cold-weather use
The AK 30 S includes STIHL’s cold-start function.

Does the AK 30 S fit STIHL AP or AS tools?
No. The AK 30 S is only designed for tools in the STIHL AK System.
STIHL currently uses separate cordless platforms:
- AS System: compact tools using smaller AS batteries
- AK System: 36V domestic garden machinery
- AP System: professional cordless machinery using AP batteries
Although AK and AP batteries are both described as 36V systems, they have different fittings and are not interchangeable.

Can I use an AK 30 S instead of an AK 10 or AK 20?
