Variable-speed self-propelled drive

The RMA 448 V features STIHL Vario wheel drive, allowing the forward speed to be adjusted from approximately 2.0 to 4.5km/h.

This allows you to match the mower to your walking pace and the shape of the garden. You can use a slower speed when working around obstacles or detailed lawn edges, then increase the speed across larger open areas.

The powered drive means you do not have to provide all of the force needed to move the 27kg mower, making it considerably easier to use than a push mower during longer mowing sessions.

Four different ways to mow

The STIHL RMA 448 V can be used in four different mowing configurations.

Cut and collect

Fit the 52-litre grass collection box to collect the clippings and leave a tidy finish. The collector includes a fill-level indicator to help show when it needs emptying.

Cut and drop

Remove the grass collector to allow clippings to discharge behind the mower. This is useful when a collected finish is not required.

Side discharge

The integrated side-discharge flap directs clippings away from the deck. Side discharge can be particularly useful when mowing longer grass that would otherwise fill the collection box quickly.

Mulching

Switch the mower into mulch mode to finely cut the clippings and return them to the lawn. Regular mulching reduces the need to empty a collector and returns organic material to the grass.

For the best mulching result, mow regularly and avoid removing more than approximately one-third of the grass height in a single cut.

Battery performance and lawn coverage

The RMA 448 V is designed to be used with a STIHL AK 30 S battery. STIHL lists approximate coverage of up to 340m² on one fully charged AK 30 S under ideal test conditions.

Actual mowing coverage will vary according to:
