Osmo Polyx-Oil Original Clear Satin 750ml
Osmo Polyx-Oil Original Clear Satin 750ml is a premium clear satin hardwax oil for protecting interior wooden floors, furniture, doors, stairs, panels and joinery. Also known as Osmo 3032 Clear Satin, it enhances the natural beauty of timber while providing a tough, water-repellent and dirt-resistant finish.
The 750ml tin is ideal for furniture, doors, small flooring areas, sample projects, touch-ups and interior wood finishing jobs where you want a durable satin sheen without the heavy look of traditional varnish.
If you want a wood finish that brings out the grain, adds a subtle satin shimmer and stands up to everyday use, Osmo Polyx-Oil Original Clear Satin 750ml is one of the best choices for interior wood protection.
Why Choose Osmo Polyx-Oil Clear Satin?
Osmo Polyx-Oil Original Clear Satin 3032 is designed for customers who want more warmth and depth than a matt finish, but less shine than a gloss. The satin finish gives wood a refined, softly polished appearance while still keeping the surface natural-looking and easy to maintain.
Unlike many conventional varnishes, Osmo Polyx-Oil combines natural oils and waxes to protect the wood from within and at the surface. The result is a microporous, breathable finish that will not crack, peel, flake or blister.

Clear Satin Finish for a Warm, Natural Look
The satin version of Osmo Polyx-Oil Original is perfect when you want timber to look richer, smoother and slightly more polished without becoming glossy. It emphasises the wood grain modestly, giving floors and furniture a warm, elegant appearance.
This makes it a popular choice for interior wood where appearance matters as much as durability, including living room floors, dining tables, shelving, doors, stair treads and fitted joinery.
Because it is a clear oil-based finish, it can enhance and slightly deepen the natural tone of the wood. Always apply a small test area first to confirm the final colour and sheen before treating the full surface.

Coverage and Drying Time
- Coverage: approximately 30m² per litre with one coat
- 750ml tin coverage: approximately 22.5m² with one coat
- Recommended coats: two thin coats on new or freshly sanded wood
- Drying time: approximately 8–10 hours per coat with good ventilation
- Full cure: approximately 2–3 weeks before the surface is fully hardened
- Finish: clear satin
- Product code: 3032
- Use: interior wood only
Coverage depends on the type of wood, surface preparation, sanding grade and absorbency of the timber. Rough, open-grained or highly absorbent wood may require more product. For two coats on new wood, the total finished coverage will be lower than the one-coat figure.
Application Guide
Make sure the wood surface is clean, dry and frost-free before application. Old paints, lacquers and varnishes should be completely removed. Previously oiled surfaces should be cleaned and prepared before recoating.
Sand the wood carefully before oiling. As a guide, final sanding should be approximately P120–150 for flooring and P180–240 for furniture. Remove sanding dust thoroughly with a broom, vacuum or suitable dust removal method.
Stir the tin thoroughly before use. Do not thin.
Apply very thinly and evenly along the wood grain using an Osmo Flat Brush, Osmo Floor Brush, hand pad or Osmo Microfibre Roller. Spread the product well and avoid over-application, as too much oil or poor ventilation can delay drying and may leave the surface tacky.
Allow the first coat to dry for approximately 8–10 hours with good ventilation, then apply a second thin coat. For renovation or recoating of an already oiled surface, one thin coat on a clean, dry surface is usually sufficient.
Clear Satin vs Matt, Semi-Matt and Raw
Osmo 3032 Clear Satin gives wood a subtle, elegant sheen that enhances the grain more visibly than matt while staying softer and less reflective than gloss.
Choose satin if you want a richer, warmer finish with a gentle sheen. Choose Osmo Polyx-Oil Original Clear Matt 750ml if you prefer a lower-sheen, more understated look. Choose Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw 750ml if you are treating light-coloured wood and want to reduce the darker wet-look effect of clear oils.
Care and Maintenance
Wood treated with Osmo Polyx-Oil Original is easy to maintain. For regular cleaning, remove dust and loose dirt with a broom, vacuum or suitable dust mop. For damp cleaning, use a suitable Osmo cleaning product and avoid saturating the wood with water.
When signs of wear become visible, the surface can usually be refreshed with one thin coat after proper cleaning and drying. This makes Osmo Polyx-Oil a practical choice for floors and furniture because worn areas can be maintained without sanding back the entire surface.
Important Suitability Advice
Osmo Polyx-Oil Original Clear Satin is designed for interior wood. For dark and extractive-rich hardwoods such as wenge, merbau and jatoba, Osmo recommends using a more suitable specialist product such as Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin.
Clear oils can darken or enrich the appearance of wood. If you want to keep pale oak or similar light woods looking as light as possible, consider Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw instead. Always test before applying to the full surface.

Is Osmo Polyx-Oil Clear Satin suitable for wooden floors?
Yes. Osmo Polyx-Oil Original Clear Satin is suitable for interior wooden floors, including solid wood flooring, engineered wood, parquet, block-strip flooring, OSB and cork floors.
What does Clear Satin look like?
Clear Satin gives wood a subtle satin sheen. It is warmer and slightly more reflective than matt, but softer and less shiny than gloss. It enhances the wood grain while keeping the finish natural-looking.
Does Osmo Clear Satin darken wood?
Clear oil-based finishes can enhance and slightly deepen the natural tone of the wood. Always test first to confirm the final appearance. For pale wood where you want to minimise darkening, consider Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw.
How much does a 750ml tin cover?
A 750ml tin covers approximately 22.5m² with one coat on smooth, prepared wood. Coverage varies depending on the timber, sanding grade and absorbency of the surface.
How many coats should I apply?
Apply two thin coats on new, untreated or freshly sanded wood. For renovation or recoating of a previously oiled surface, one thin coat is usually sufficient if the surface is clean, dry and sound.
How long does Osmo Polyx-Oil Original Clear Satin take to dry?
The clear satin finish takes approximately 8–10 hours to dry per coat under normal conditions with good ventilation. Cold temperatures, high humidity, poor airflow or over-application can increase drying time.
Do I need to sand between coats?
No sanding is normally required between coats when the product is applied correctly and thinly. Make sure the first coat is fully dry before applying the second coat.
Can I use Osmo Polyx-Oil Clear Satin on furniture?
Yes. It is suitable for interior wooden furniture as well as floors, doors, stairs, panels and joinery. The satin finish is a good choice when you want durable protection with a warmer, slightly polished appearance.
Is Osmo Polyx-Oil Clear Satin better than varnish?
Osmo Polyx-Oil gives a more natural look and feel than many traditional varnishes. It is also easier to maintain because worn areas can usually be cleaned and refreshed with a thin coat rather than sanding the whole surface back.
Can I use this product in kitchens or bathrooms?
It can be used on suitable interior wood, but areas exposed to higher moisture need careful preparation, thin application and proper ventilation. Osmo recommends additional protection such as Osmo Wood Protector as a base coat for use in kitchens or bathrooms.
