Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw 750ml

Osmo 3044 Raw — Natural-Looking Protection for Pale Interior Wood
If you want to protect wood without making it look darker or freshly varnished, Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw 3044 is designed for exactly that job. It gives light-coloured timber a durable, matt protective finish while preserving the pale, freshly sanded appearance of the wood.
Standard clear oils often deepen the colour of timber and create a warmer “wet-look” effect. Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw uses a small amount of white pigment to counteract that darkening, helping light woods retain a raw, untreated look while still benefiting from the strength of a hardwax oil finish.
It is ideal for modern interiors, Scandinavian-style finishes, oak flooring, pale furniture, internal doors, workpieces and other light interior wood surfaces where you want the timber to look clean, natural and understated.
Where to Use Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw
Use Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw 750ml on light-coloured interior wood, including:
- Wooden floors
- Oak flooring
- Pine, spruce, beech, ash and larch
- Wooden furniture
- Interior joinery
- Doors and panels
- Sanded raw wood surfaces
A trial application is strongly recommended, especially on unfamiliar timber or where the wood has strong colour variation.
Application Advice
For best results, the wood must be clean, dry and frost-free, with moisture content at a maximum of 18%. Remove old paints, varnishes and lacquers completely before application.
Sand carefully before oiling. Osmo recommends final sanding grades of P120–150 for flooring and P180–240 for furniture.
Stir thoroughly before use. Do not thin.
Apply very thinly along the grain using an Osmo Flat Brush, Osmo Floor Brush or Osmo Microfibre Roller. Spread well and remove any visible white pigment before leaving the surface to dry. Applying too much product can create a white, chalky appearance, especially on darker or reddish timber.
Allow approximately 24 hours drying time with good ventilation, then apply a second thin coat. For renovation of an already oiled surface, one thin coat on a clean, dry surface is usually sufficient.
Coverage
Osmo lists coverage at approximately 30m² per litre for one coat, depending on the character and absorbency of the wood. A 750ml tin should therefore cover approximately 22.5m² with one coat on smooth prepared timber.
Important Note Before Buying
Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw is intended for light-coloured wood. On dark, reddish, smoked or fumed woods, the white pigment may be visible as a slightly chalky surface.
For extractive-rich hardwoods such as wenge, merbau or jatoba, Osmo recommends Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin instead.
Always test first to confirm the final colour and appearance.

FAQs
Is Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw suitable for oak floors?
Yes. Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw 3044 is suitable for light-coloured wooden flooring, including oak. It is designed to protect the surface while helping the wood keep a pale, raw appearance. Avoid using it on smoked or fumed oak without a test patch.
Does Osmo 3044 Raw darken wood?
It is designed to minimise the darkening normally caused by clear oils. The lightly white-pigmented formula helps preserve the natural pale look of sanded or untreated light wood.
How many coats do I need?
For new, untreated or freshly sanded wood, apply two thin coats. For recoating an already oiled surface, one thin coat is usually enough if the surface is clean and dry.
How long does Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw take to dry?
Allow approximately 24 hours drying time under normal conditions with good ventilation. Lower temperatures, higher humidity or applying too much product can increase drying time.
What coverage will I get from a 750ml tin?
Osmo states coverage of approximately 30m² per litre with one coat. A 750ml tin should cover around 22.5m² for one coat, depending on the wood and surface preparation.
Can I use Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect Raw on dark wood?
It is not recommended for dark, reddish, smoked or fumed wood species because the white pigment may appear chalky. Always trial apply first.
