Bird Brand Complete Wood Protector penetrates into the grain rather than just sitting on the surface, so it protects the timber from the inside as well as the outside. The formula combines dry-film biocides to guard against fungal growth and discolouration with UV-resistant pigments that help the colour hold up under sun exposure. It’s a brush or spray-on product, and it’s compatible with both the current and previous Bird Brand Wood Preserver formulas, so if you’ve used Bird Brand before you can carry on without changing your routine.

What it’s for

What it isn’t

It’s worth being upfront about this: Bird Brand Complete is not HSE-registered as a wood preservative, so it won’t prevent or treat wood-boring insects, and it doesn’t offer the stronger fungal resistance of a dedicated preservative. Colours available

Clear, Dark Brown, Forest Green, Golden Brown, Light Brown, Mahogany, Tan, Red Cedar. The Clear finish has minimal wax content, which makes it the right pick if you plan to paint over the timber later.

How to apply

Brush or spray on. As with most solvent-based treatments, it’s best applied in dry weather with good ventilation, and a second coat on bare or particularly weathered timber will give more even, longer-lasting colour.
