Weibang Virtue 53 SSD LV commercial lawn mower

The Weibang Virtue 53 SSD LV is a commercial 53cm self-propelled petrol lawn mower built for contractors, estates, grounds-maintenance teams and demanding domestic users. Its defining feature is a commercial shaft-drive transmission, which removes the conventional wheel-drive belt used by many self-propelled lawn mowers.

The mower combines a 196cc Weibang XCV200S low-vibration engine, three selectable forward speeds, a heavy-duty steel cutter deck and four clipping-management options. Weibang recommends the machine for mowing areas up to approximately 3,000m².

Key features of the Weibang Virtue 53 SSD LV

Commercial shaft-drive transmission

The shaft-drive system transfers power to the wheels without relying on a conventional wheel-drive belt. This removes a belt that can stretch, slip or require replacement during the mower’s working life.

The shaft-drive arrangement does not make the mower maintenance-free. The engine, gearbox, blade, controls, cables, wheels and safety systems must still be inspected and serviced in accordance with the operator’s manual.

For contractors and grounds-maintenance teams, the principal advantage is a drive system engineered to reduce belt-related downtime during regular, demanding use.

196cc Weibang XCV200S engine

The mower is powered by a 196cc Weibang XCV200S four-stroke petrol engine, producing a rated output of 3.5kW at 3,600rpm.

The low-vibration engine is designed for commercial mowing work and has a one-litre fuel tank. Weibang specifies a vibration level of 3.2m/s² for the complete mower.

The engine provides accessible routine service points, including the oil dipstick, spark plug and air filter. Always follow the service intervals in the operator’s manual.

Three-speed self-propelled drive

The PRO three-speed transmission provides selectable forward speeds of:

  • 3km/h: useful for heavier grass, tighter areas and a controlled mowing pace.
  • 3.5km/h: a general-purpose speed for routine mowing.
  • 4.6km/h: suitable for quicker coverage of open, regularly maintained ground.

These are three fixed speed selections rather than a continuously variable drive. Operators who prefer to adjust their walking speed continuously should compare the Weibang Virtue 50 SVP variable-speed mower.

Four mowing functions

The 4-in-1 steel cutter deck can be configured for four different grass conditions and required finishes.

Cutting mode Best suited to
Collection Regular mowing when a clean finish and removal of the clippings are priorities.
Mulching Frequent mowing in suitable dry conditions, returning finely cut clippings to the lawn.
Rear discharge Longer grass where collection is unnecessary and the clippings can remain behind the mower.
Side discharge Productive cutting in longer, rougher or more overgrown areas.

The mulching plug is included and must be inserted when using the side-discharge function. For effective mulching, mow regularly and avoid removing more than approximately one-third of the grass height in a single cut.

53cm commercial steel cutter deck

The 53cm, or approximately 21-inch, cutting width is designed for productive mowing across large lawns, estates and commercial grounds.

The wide deck reduces the number of passes required across open ground. It is less suitable for small gardens, narrow gates or layouts containing numerous tight obstacles.

Central spring-assisted cutting-height adjustment

A single spring-assisted lever controls 13 cutting-height positions from approximately 25–80mm.

The central control makes it quicker to adjust the full mower deck than systems requiring separate adjustment at each wheel. The lever is positioned within the rear-wheel area to help protect it when mowing alongside walls, fences and hedges.

70-litre airflow grass collector

The large 70-litre fabric collector reduces the number of emptying stops required during regular mowing.

Airflow fabric on the upper section helps indicate when the bag is becoming full. A full-width rear handle supports easier emptying without pinching and closing the collector opening.

Collection performance will depend on grass length, moisture, deck cleanliness and mowing speed. The fabric should be kept clean so that airflow is not restricted.

CPS crankshaft protection

A CPS slip-washer system provides an additional level of crankshaft protection if the cutting blade strikes an unexpected obstruction.

This does not remove the need to inspect the mowing area and clear stones, branches, wire and other objects before starting work.

Commercial wheels and front bumper

Heavy-duty nylon wheels use polyurethane tyres and protected double bearings to help reduce the entry of water, dust and grass debris.

A front bumper protects the deck and front wheels from accidental contact. It also provides a lifting point when repositioning or transporting the mower.

At approximately 52.5kg, this is a substantial commercial machine. Appropriate lifting equipment or assistance should be used when loading it into a vehicle.

Adjustable handles and service position

Heavy-duty quick-release clamps allow the handle height to be adjusted without compromising handle rigidity.

The handles can also be folded into a compact transport or storage position. Weibang’s designated service position provides easier access to the underside of the cutter deck for inspection and cleaning.

Always stop the engine, allow it to cool and follow the operator’s manual before lifting, cleaning or servicing the mower.

Is the Weibang Virtue 53 SSD LV right for you?

Choose the Virtue 53 SSD LV if:

  • You mow large lawns, estates or commercial grounds regularly.
  • You prioritise a commercial shaft-driven transmission.
  • You want three repeatable forward-speed settings.
  • You require collection, mulching and discharge options.
  • You need a productive 53cm cutting width.
  • You value dealer servicing, repairs and spare-parts support.
  • You have suitable access, transport and storage for a 52.5kg mower.

Another mower may be more suitable if:

  • You have a small or tightly arranged garden.
  • You need a lightweight mower that can be lifted regularly.
  • You want continuously variable walking speed.
  • You need a blade-brake clutch that stops the blade while leaving the engine running.
  • You want a rear roller and pronounced formal lawn stripes.
  • You only mow occasionally and do not require commercial construction.

Comparing Weibang commercial mowers

Virtue 53 SSD LV versus Virtue 50 SSD

The Weibang Virtue 50 SSD provides the same core shaft-drive principle in a narrower 50cm format.

Feature Virtue 53 SSD LV Virtue 50 SSD
Cutting width 53cm 50cm
Recommended area Up to approximately 3,000m² Up to approximately 2,500m²
Drive Three-speed shaft drive Three-speed shaft drive
Collector 70 litres 65 litres
Best suited to Larger open areas and maximum productivity Greater manoeuvrability and a lower purchase price

Choose the 53 SSD LV when wider coverage and larger-area productivity are priorities. Choose the 50 SSD when manoeuvrability, transport and storage are more important.

Virtue 53 SSD LV versus Virtue 53 SSD BBC LV

The Weibang Virtue 53 SSD BBC LV adds a blade-brake clutch.

A blade-brake clutch allows the cutting blade to stop while the engine continues running. This is particularly useful for professional operators who frequently empty the collector, cross paths or move between separate mowing areas.

Choose the standard 53 SSD LV when you want the core 53cm shaft-drive performance at a lower purchase price. Choose the BBC version when reducing repeated engine restarts is operationally valuable.

Virtue 53 SSD LV versus Virtue 53 SMP LV

The Weibang Virtue 53 SMP LV is a dedicated commercial mulching mower and does not collect grass.

Choose the 53 SSD LV when you require collection and discharge flexibility. Choose the 53 SMP LV when mulching is the primary mowing method and maximum dedicated mulching performance is more important than collection.

Why Masseys recommends the Weibang Virtue 53 SSD LV

Masseys recommends the Virtue 53 SSD LV to contractors, estates and demanding private users who require the versatility of a four-function mower but place particular value on a commercial shaft-driven transmission.

The 53cm deck, three selectable speeds and 70-litre collector make it well suited to large, reasonably open areas where mowing productivity matters. Its ability to collect, mulch, rear-discharge or side-discharge also allows the same machine to handle regular formal mowing and longer, less frequently maintained grass.

The mower is not the right recommendation for every customer. At approximately 52.5kg, it is heavy to lift and transport without suitable equipment. Its three drive speeds are fixed rather than continuously variable, and it does not have a blade-brake clutch or rear roller.

For a smaller garden or occasional domestic use, Masseys would normally recommend a lighter and less commercially specified mower. Professional operators who frequently stop the blade may find the BBC version more productive.
