Weibang Virtue 53 SSD BBC LV Lawn Mower

A commercial-grade 53cm petrol mower built for gardens and grounds that get cut every week, not every fortnight. Shaft drive instead of belts, a proper blade brake clutch, and a steel deck that’s made to stand up to commercial use.

The Weibang Virtue 53 SSD BBC LV is the entry point into Weibang’s shaft-driven commercial mowers — the model to look at if you want the reliability of a shaft drive without stepping up to the aluminium-deck machines further up the Virtue range. The 53cm steel cutter deck is a genuine 4-in-1 design, so it collects, mulches, side-discharges or rear-discharges depending on how overgrown the job is. Power comes from a Weibang XCV200S 196cc engine, and the whole machine is built around a PRO Blade Brake Clutch, heavy-duty nylon wheels and a front bumper that doubles as a carry handle. It’s a mower that’s equally at home tackling a big residential lawn or going out on a grounds maintenance round.

Weibang Virtue 53 SSD BBC LV Key features

PRO Blade Brake Clutch — Stop the blade without stopping the engine. Weibang’s PRO BBC is around double the size of the clutches fitted to most competitor mowers, which means fewer wear issues and an easier job for your dealer if it ever needs attention.

Central, spring-assisted height adjustment — One lever, tucked in behind the rear wheel out of harm’s way, gives you 13 cutting heights from 25mm up to 80mm. A heavy-duty spring on the Weibang Virtue 53 SSD BBC LV takes the effort out of moving between them.

Heavy-duty bumper and commercial wheels — The front bumper protects the deck from kerbs, walls and raised beds, and doubles as a lifting handle when you need to load the mower. The nylon-rimmed, polyurethane-tyred wheels run on sealed double bearings to keep grass and moisture out.

Tool-free side discharge — Clip the side discharge chute on without tools when the grass has got away from you, then swap back to collecting once it’s under control again.

70-litre quick-attach collector — The fabric collector locates straight onto the handle frame and has an airflow panel on top that visibly flattens when it’s full, so you’re not guessing when to empty it. A full-width rear handle makes emptying quick and mess-free.

Built to be serviced, not replaced — Open-back cockpit design keeps the cables in easy reach, the oil dipstick, spark plug and air filter are all simple to get to, and the OPC and drive levers run in replaceable bushes rather than wearing out the handle itself.

FAQs about the Weibang Virtue 53 SSD BBC LV

On the Weibang Virtue 53 SSD BBC LV, what does the Blade Brake Clutch (BBC) do? It lets you stop the blade while the engine carries on running, so you can empty the collector or move to a new area of lawn without switching off and restarting each time.

What’s the benefit of shaft drive over a belt-driven mower? Power goes straight from the engine to the wheels with nothing in between. There’s no belt to slip, stretch or wear out, so drive stays consistent and there’s less routine maintenance to worry about.

How big a lawn or site is this mower suitable for? It’s rated for areas up to around 3000m², which covers large gardens, small grounds maintenance rounds, and regularly cut paddocks or verges.

How do I look after the grass collector? Hose it down after use and let it dry fully before putting it away. A clean collector keeps the airflow mesh working properly, so you can see at a glance when it’s full.

How often should it be serviced? Once a year is recommended, ideally at the end of the cutting season before the mower goes away for winter. Our workshop can handle this — ask in-store for details.

What oil does it take? 0.6 litres of 10W30. Change it after the first 5 hours, then every 50 hours or once a year, whichever comes round first.
