Leaf-blower configuration

In blower configuration, the SH 56 can be used to gather dry leaves, loose grass cuttings and similar lightweight garden material into piles. This makes it easier to clear material from lawns, paths, patios and driveways before collecting it.

The supplied blower tube directs the airflow close to the surface, allowing loose material to be moved towards a suitable collection area.

Vacuum-shredder configuration

In vacuum configuration, the machine draws suitable garden material through the suction tube. The material passes through the specialised shredder blade before entering the 45-litre collection bag.

Shredding reduces the volume of suitable dry leaves and light cuttings, helping the collection bag hold more material before it needs to be emptied.

STIHL 2-MIX petrol engine

The SH 56 is powered by a 27.2cm³ STIHL 2-MIX two-stroke engine. STIHL’s 2-MIX technology is designed to provide useful power while reducing fuel consumption and exhaust emissions compared with older conventional two-stroke engine designs.

The engine requires the correct petrol and two-stroke oil mixture. A ready-mixed fuel such as STIHL MotoMix can remove the need to measure and mix separate fuel and oil, while suitable two-stroke oil and fuel products can be found in the Masseys oil and fuel range.

Never use ordinary unmixed petrol in the machine. Follow the fuel specification and mixing instructions supplied by STIHL.

Simplified starting controls

A manual fuel pump helps move fuel into the carburettor before starting, reducing the number of starting pulls that may be required after the machine has been unused.

The SH 56 also uses a semi-automatic choke and a stop switch that automatically returns to the operating position. This helps leave the machine ready for its next start and reduces the risk of attempting to restart it with the switch in the wrong position.

Specialised shredder blade
